Gubernatorial Josh Schoemann discusses budget issues during visit to NWSF

CHIPPEWA FALLS (WQOW) – Republican gubernatorial candidate Josh Schoemann met with voters at the northern Wisconsin State Fair. One talking point was the recently passed state budget which he argues isn’t good for the state.

His main complaint was the lack of conversations about what should have been included and that legislators should have started discussions earlier to not rush the process.

“It’s not going to be kind of a tax swap or tax shift like this budget appears to be in the end. It’s going to be about getting more money back in peoples pocket because it’s their money and not the governments money,” Schoemann said.

He said his focuses as governor would include lowering taxes, creating more affordable housing, and balancing the budget. He said the largest issue facing the state is the amount of people leaving impacting the workforce.
