State Representative Mark Born Endorses Josh Schoemann for County Executive

Today, State Representative Mark Born (R – Beaver Dam) issued the following statement regarding his endorsement of Josh Schoemann to become Washington County’s first Executive:

One of the leading problems in our state right now is combating the growing heroin and opioid epidemic. I am proud to see leaders like Josh Schoemann encourage and support the County Human Services Department and their community partners in seeking out grants, like the recently awarded State Opioid Response Grant.

As a former Corrections Supervisor in Dodge County, I saw first-hand the negative impacts drug abuse can have on families and our communities. Thanks to Josh’s leadership, Washington County will have additional resources available to help fund rehabilitation programs along with the County’s first-ever drug treatment court. I was pleased upon hearing the recent transformative news that the County secured $500,000 in federal grant monies to implement this initiative in partnership with Elevate Inc. in Jackson.

Having someone with Josh’s credibility and experience help champion a drug treatment court with our County’s Circuit Court Judges, the County Human Services Department and Elevate will have a positive impact on Washington County, thereby making it a safer place to live and raise a family.
